Using Google Maps and the TFL open API we created a microsite which enabled fans to track the buses.
Kraken briefed us to generate hype around their OOH campaign which involved a series of branded Kraken London buses. Using Google Maps and the TFL open API we created a microsite which enabled fans to track the buses. Fans could use the app to spot a bus, take a snap, share it to socials and stand the chance to win some legendary Kraken prizes.
The bus locations are updated every 30 seconds as per the restrictions of the TFL API. We used Google Maps and styled it using a dark theme to fit with the CI of Kraken Rum. The map would zoom to fit all buses currently en-route and then allow users to manipulate the map as they normally would.
It was important for this campaign to work on mobile to allow game players to track the buses while on the move. A simple cascading responsive approach was used to design this site to fit and work across various mobile devices.
This was a very simple yet effective implementation of using creative technology to create an engaging experience to drive competition entries.
